Who we are

The Atlanta chapter of the IEEE Technology and Engineering Management Society (TEMS) serves technical professionals across metro Atlanta who lead, or aspire to lead, engineering and technology organizations. Our members include engineering managers, technical leads, product and program managers, researchers in innovation management, and individual contributors preparing for the transition into leadership.

TEMS encompasses the management sciences and practices required for defining, implementing, and managing engineering and technology: technology strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship, digital transformation, R&D management, and the leadership of technical teams.

Our mission: to advance, enhance, and improve the critical management and leadership skills of IEEE members in metro Atlanta, equipping them to navigate the intersection of technology and business.

Why a TEMS chapter in Atlanta

Atlanta is one of the fastest-growing technology hubs in the country, home to Fortune 500 headquarters, a dense fintech and logistics corridor, a thriving startup ecosystem, and world-class research universities. Yet the skills that carry an engineer into leadership are rarely taught on the job. This chapter exists to close that gap locally.

About IEEE TEMS

The society traces its roots to the IEEE Engineering Management Society, founded in 1951, and became the Technology and Engineering Management Society in 2015. Today TEMS publishes the IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management and the IEEE Engineering Management Review, runs global programs on entrepreneurship and innovation, and supports chapters across every IEEE region.

The Atlanta chapter operates under the IEEE Atlanta Section (Region 3) and follows all IEEE and TEMS governance policies.
